Endnote Online

  • Endnote online is a free / basic Endnote account.
  • Save and organize references without Endnote Desktop.
  • Endnote Desktop can sync to Endnote Online – creating a backup for your Endnote library.
  • Allows you to share references with up to 100 colleagues who have EndNote – only the references are shared, not the attachments.
  • Integrates with Microsoft® Word desktop to use the application Cite While You Write (CWYW).
  • Some Endnote desktop features are included with the online version – create groups, share groups, check for duplicates & searching within certain databases.
  • A limit of 2GB applies to accessing PDF’s via Endnote online.

Sync Endnote Online with Endnote Desktop

  • From Endnote Desktop (PC)  - click EDIT tab.
  • Select 'Preferences' & select 'Sync' from the list.
  • In the section 'Endnote Account Credentials' enter the email address & password used to set up Endnote Online.
  • Option is to tick 'Sync automatically' box or leave and sync with Endnote online manually.

 

Manually sync Endnote Desktop with Endnote online

  • Have both Endnote Desktop & Endnote Online open.
  • From Endnote Desktop click on 'Sync Status' on top left menu.
  • Sync details page opens - on top right click on 'Sync Now' button.
  • Endnote Desktop is now syncing with Endnote Online.
