All Australian residents are eligible to access the NLA and its collection. You must apply for a National Library of Australia library card to use materials in the Library. A wide range of online resources can be accessed from home, using your NLA login, with the remainder being accessible from within the NLA building.
The National Library is a closed-stack collection, meaning that all books must be retrieved for you by staff . It is also a non-lending library with all materials available for in-house use only.
After joining the Library, you can request books in advance of your visit via the National Library Catalogue or iPhone app.
