If you already have the citation in your EndNote library

  1. Double-click on the reference to open the right side panel 
  2. Click Attach file 
  3. Locate the file in your computer to attach it to the record. 

 

 

If you do not have the citation already in your EndNote library

  1. Within EndNote go to File > Import > File ...
  2. Click Choose ... to select your PDF
  3. Change the import option to PDF
  4. Click Import. 

You can use this second method to import an entire folder rather than individually. 

Note

If your PDF article has a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), it will import into EndNote with a number of fields filled. However, if it does not, only the title field will be filled. The name of the file will be used as the title.
