To access Legislation databases, go to the Law Subject Guide by clicking on Library and Subject Guides on the Library homepage, then select Law. Once you are in the Law Guide, go to the Primary Materials tab and select Find Legislation. Legislation databases are listed on this page.
Federal Register of Legislation
Federal Register of Legislation is the authorised online resource of Commonwealth legislation.
To find Commonwealth Legislation:
Go to Legislative instruments on the left hand side of the navigation bar.
For current legislation, select In force. For historical legislation, select No longer in force.
Legislation can be searched using the filter on the left hand side, or using the relevant alphabetical listing for the legislation on the right hand side e.g. “In” for Income Tax Assessment (1936 Act) Regulation 2015.
ACT , State and Territory Legislation:
Links to the authorised legislation of the states and territories are listed in the "State and Territory Legislation" box. Click on the relevant jurisdiction and you will be redirected to the relevant state or territory government site to access legislation.
1. Click on the Advanced Search link above the Red Search box, enter the title of the legislation required into the Legislation Title search box. Then click Search (at the bottom of the page)
- You can also search for a section by entering the section number into the Provision name/Number search box.
- E.g. Corporations Act 2001 Section 117
2. Select the correct legislation from the results list. Once you have opened the legislation, you can navigate through the different sections using the left hand menu.
